Preparation & Usage

Making espresso 1. Unscrew your Imusa espresso maker and remove the funnel filter cup from the bottom half. Pour water (cold or room temperature) into the bottom half of the espresso maker up to the valve located on the inside. 2. Place the funnel filter eup ine the bottom hat and fill with fine ground coffee without tamping or applying much pressure, level off at the top. 3. Confirm that the top part of your espresso maker has the round metal filter and the silicone ring-like gasket (located on the bottom of the top piece). Do not use your coffee maker if these pieces are missing or damage. Screew the top and bottom pieces together. 4. Place your Imusa espresso maker on the stove, making sure not to expose the handle to direct heat (you may place the coffee maker in such way that the entire bottom part is placed directly on top of the stove but the handle is outside the burner area). 5. Set your stove to medium heat and wait for the water to boil and for the coffee to begin percolating (it will remove the coffee maker from the heat and wait 30 seconds for it to finish percolating. To avoid burns, do not lift the lid during this process. The top part should be nearly full of espresso when done. You may serve your coffee once the coffee maker stops boilin and gurgling. Warning: Coffee will be extremely hot. Cleaning Wait for the product to cool completely before pouring water in or onto it. Hand wash & dry thoroughly. General recommendations • Generally, the espresso coffeemaker will stain on the inside from the coffee and minerals in the water. It is also normal for the exterior to become satined due to the direct contact with heat. • Do not store espresso coffee in the coffeemkaer. • Products with plastic, phenolic, or wooden accessories such as handles must not be used in any kind of oven nor be exposed to flames or direct heat. Use medium or low heat. Damage caused by overheating is not coverd by warranty. Making cuban coffee (café cubano) To make cuban coffee, follow steps 1 through 4 inside and then continue with the following steps: 5. In a metal cup, place about one teaspoon of sugar for each serving. Set the stove to medium heat and as the coffee begins to percolate, pour enough coffee in the metal cup to moisten the sugar. Vigorously mix the moistened sugar and coffee until it becomes a paste. Replace the espresso maker on the stove. 6. Take your Imusa espresso maker off the heat once the top portion is about 3/4 full. This will prevent it from burning or overflowing. Once the coffee is done percolating, pour it slowly into the metal cup while gently mixing it with the sugar paste. If done correctly, the sugar paste will create a "foam" once it is mixed with the rest of the coffee.
